About Me

Hi, I’m Bonnie. I’m an Accredited Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). I have over 10 years experience working in the human service sector in frontline and leadership positions. I currently work full-time as a Counsellor at the Sexual Assault Referral Centre in Darwin, NT. There are too many barriers when it comes to accessing quality mental health support. I am passionate about accessible mental health care and that’s how Compassion Within Counselling was born.

My Approach

Person-centred care is my priority - this means that your unique needs, preferences, values and experiences guide my approach. I work from a foundation of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) to help people navigate challenges with kindness, presence, and a focus on what truly matters to them. I draw on a variety of other evidence-based therapeutic modalities in my practice to ensure that each individual receives care that is tailored specifically to them.

  • All bookings are made online via the website. First sessions can often feel a little clunky. You will be required to review and sign an information and consent form when booking your first appointment.

In your first session, we will go over the information and consent form. I can answer any questions you have about my practice or the counselling process. After that you will take the lead.

Some people come to counselling with a plan and others don’t - either is fine. If you don’t have a plan we can come up with one together.

  • All sessions are 45 minutes in duration to keep prices low so that more people can access the support they need.

45 minute sessions during the working week (Mon-Fri) are $150.00

45 minutes sessions on Saturday are $190.00

Unfortunately rebates through Medicare and private health funds are not available at this time.

  • That's up to you! Counselling can be provided as a once-off session or for the short, medium or long term. If you choose to engage on an ongoing basis goals for counselling will be established. Having counselling goals ensures that we are actively working towards achieving your desired outcome.

  • All sessions are online via Telehealth.

So it doesn’t matter where you are, or where I am, if you have internet connection and a space you feel comfortable being in for your sessions we can work together.

  • Compassion Within Counselling strives to provide an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.

Counselling is available for individuals aged 12 and over from all backgrounds, identities, and life experiences.

  • Compassion Within Counselling is a therapeutic counselling service. I do not provide diagnosis, psychological assessments, or reports. Support letters can be provided on request. Support letters are general in nature and will incur a cost.
